If you haven't already read about the clan and their ways, then I'll explain real quick before the audition begins:
There is no deputy in Shearwater. The clan believes in having the strongest and bravest possible leader.
Upon becoming a new leader, the new leader must elect not one but two apprentices to train directly under them for the entirety of their leadership.
These two apprentices can be between 7 and 11 moons, and they shall train together with their leader until the leader dies.
Upon the leader dying, the two apprentices who trained under them must go before the clan and engage in a fight. They can not be killed (not during the battle at least, though some have died later on from wounds and infection) but can and will be brutally injured until one gives in or can no longer fight. It does get gory.
The loser will join the warriors, the winner shall become the clan's next leader.
There is the option of one simply agreeing the other is a better leader, and no fight taking place. But this rarely happens in the clan, as any Shearwater is often desperate to prove themselves.
As fun and exciting as it can be to train alongside your sibling or best buddy under the leader, remember that one day you will have to meet them in battle for the rank.
Ultimately, the next leader is determined by a poll we'll have posted on the site. People will be able to vote on which second wins the battle and becomes leader.
Shearwater needs two "seconds" as they are called, to train under the leader.
- A second does not go into warrior training, meaning their name goes from kit to paw to star.
- A second needs to be strong in some way. Be it from agility or brute strength, a second could become leader, and they will need to be able to enforce the code, and punish those who break it.
- Because you don't get to have a warrior name, your prefix will be reserved just for your character.
- Your second must be code following, at least for now. No StarClan worshipping characters may audition.
- If you have a history of going inactive, being stressed in lead positions, etc, please do not audition. This character could become the future leader, and we will also need you on a lot for plots and training!
- If you get the ranking but go inactive in it/step down, this could effect our plot greatly, and lessen your shot of getting any other high rank in the future.
NOTE THAT...
Since there are two of this rank, you must be okay with having to work and role play with someone else. If theres someone you just can't stand also auditioning, then it's best to not audition. You two will have to be very close RP partners and it'd be unfortunate for both of you and the rest of the group if you don't get along.
This rank also asks a lot of activity. It's the future leader after all, and it would be unfair for someone who only gets on every few days to fulfill something important to our clan and plot.
OOC STUFF - Just answer the below questions as honestly as you can!
1. EXPERIENCE (you aren't required to have experience, but the mods are curious) :
2. ACTIVITY (when will you be online? When won't you? Best inform us now!) :
3. IN GAME USER/S :
4. Should you receive the ranking, do you understand you will have to train with another person for quite a long time, maintaining decent activity? Are you okay with the idea of eventually role playing the leader, and having to admin the group? Will you be okay with the idea of having to fight your partner, and potentially loosing?
IC STUFF
- First, begin by describing your character. You can post an image, go into their personality, or just simply link their biography. Whatever you wish!
Now, you're going to need to do some writing prompts! I'll describe a situation, and you respond to the situation by writing out what your character would do. Like an RP sample. Lets begin.
1. It's one of your first training sessions. Of course as a second, you're diving right into the more advanced battle tactics. The other second, your opponent, has a bit of weight and size on you. They manage to pin you down to the ground, biting deep into your chest and ripping at your fur. Use what the leader has taught you to get out of the hold and take back the fight. He will be watching.
2. Crowstar has to go to the Shadowed Grove with Lambberry today. You'll have to be in charge with your partner, the other second, Mousepaw for the day. During your day of leadership, a lone cat is caught lingering around camp. You watch them quietly to see what they intend to do, and after a few moments of them THINKING they're being sneaky, they try to run into camp and steal from the prey pile... must be starved to commit such an act. How do you take care of this situation? Do you deliver punishment? Do you help them? Do you wait for Crowstar?
3. A she cat has given birth to an outsider's kits. She seems terrified, and is burying her face into her kit's soft fur, sobbing, for Crowstar has found out. He doesn't know how to handle such a situation, and would like your opinion on what to do. Your choices are...
- "Let the mother stay, but rid our clan of the kits. Their blood is tainted. We don't need more of that right now."
- "Execute the mother, and give the kits to a different queen. Do not tell them of what became of their parents."
- "She should stay, but may only keep her strongest, healthiest kit. Any others will be tossed."
- "Let the mother leave with her kits. If she is seen in our lands again, she will be killed as will her kits."
- "Kill all of them. She greatly betrayed our clan, and we don't need more mouths to feed who aren't even full-blooded."
4. Crowstar has died defending the clan from No Eyes. It's time for you and Mousepaw to face the clan, and battle for the ranking. Lambberry tells you of how you may not kill your partner, and the winner shall take Crowstar's place. Lamb then orders the fight to begin.
Mousepaw, despite their name, is hefty. As said before, they have a bit of size on you. Write about the fight, and how you'd go about defeating your partner.
5. As you stand victorious over Mouse, who is now infuriated, he looks at you and hisses under his breath. "You will regret this, because I am never going to give up." This sounds like a threat to your power. Do you act on this? Threaten them back? Hurt them?
