The clans' symbol is.... a flower, of any kind. When the clan first moved to their new camp, they'd try to keep the elders and nestmaids busy by telling them to help the flora and flowers around the camp grow. This eventually lead to a camp bursting with life and color. One of the old leaders stated that it represented their new beginning, how beauty can burst in the darkest of times. This made the clan's symbol a flower, a waterlily to be exact. (i didn't create the symbol or orignal sigil template!!)

To others, the clan may be known for... how bitter yet strong they are, their hunting abilities, and of course their flowers.
The clan was founded by... a lone cat named Brook and survivors from the Great End.
The clan has a survival rate of... 8/10. Because of their code and want to be tough and grand, 8 in 10 cats live a decently long and fulfilling life in Shearwater. They also have no enemies they have to war with.
Other clan facts include...
* how it isn't uncommon for a queen to have at least one kit with a deformity. Ever since the worship of StarClan was banned, kits haven't always been born healthy.
* mentors have 2-4 apprentices at once, who train together or competitively. The leader has two.
* there is no deputy. the leader's two apprentices will have to fight each other for the leader rank after their former leader/mentor has passed on.
* leaders do not retire. they can be forced from the rank, or they die.
* there has yet to be a new case of White Glare since the formation of the new code.
ORIGIN AND FORMATION
Originally, this clan was divided into three older clans known as BrineClan, LichenClan and CreekClan. The three lived in harmony for many years, until a disease known as "White Glare" struck Shearwater's reaches.
White Glare first appeared as cold symptoms before it escalated into a disease that caused so much physical pain, it drove it's victims to complete and utter aggression. They'd starve themselves for a time and when they were finally ready to eat again, they'd attack and eat anything in their sight. A chemical imbalance in their brain would develop, and they'd have to be put down for the safety of others.
But White Glare did not spread like a normal infection, no, it only struck believers of StarClan. This caused a revolution known as the Great End. Clan fought against clan and wiped each other out, rebellion took place within the clans, it was sheer horror.
Out of the hundreds of warriors that once dominated Shearwater, just under forty survivors were found.
These survivors were lead by a she-cat named Brook, who brought them to the higher mountains.
Brook became Brookstar. She enforced a new code that would keep the clan in line, and banned the worship of StarClan. Because of the horrors the clan had witnessed, they were all for this new code, despite it's strictness.
Since these survivors were either loners or warriors from different clans, they named themselves after their home; The Clan of Shearwater, also known as the Shears.
Since the worship of StarClan IS banned, there is little to no religion. Some still look to the Stars for guidance despite it being banned. White Glare has yet to strike them.
It is said that the leader meets up with a strange cat, a lynx, known as "Seer" once a moon for guidance, and sometimes he may offer hints at the future somewhat like prophecies.
But this cannot be confirmed, because it's forbidden for anyone else to meet him.
Some say he is the embodiment of StarClan, and an ancient spirit. Others say he is simply a kind and extremely wise elder. Whatever the case may be, Seer is all the clan (or leader, rather) looks up to.
Because the clan originally formed from three different clans, there is no set skill for the group. It is common to be a good swimmer in the clan, but many are better at agility, battle or hunting because they are all so mix-blooded and come in all different sizes.
Leader - Leads the clan.
Second - Trains with a partner directly under the leader until the leader dies or is forced from the ranking. Seconds must then fight, and the winner is to be the new leader, while the old second is a warrior.
Medicine Cat - Heals the sick and injured using medical knowledge of herbs.
Medicine Cat Apprentice - Trains under the medicine cat until they pass on, they then take their ranking.
Warrior - Fights and hunts for the clan, also patrols the territory and enforces the code. Most warriors are mentors, who can train 2-4 apprentices at a time.
Apprentice - Trains under a warrior and with other apprentices until their mentor and leader see them ready to earn a warrior name.
Queen - A pregnant she cat preparing to give birth, or a she cat nursing a litter.
Nest Maid - Cats with disabilities that may effect their skills as warriors, such as twisted or missing limbs, blindness, etc. They do not take the rank by choice. Their job include cleaning out nests, taking care of things and cats around camp, and assisting the medicine cat.
Kit - Under the age of 6 moons, kits live in the nursery with a queen until ready to be apprenticed. However, if born with a deformity, they will be elected a nest maid.
